As 2015 is coming to a close, and another Christmas is in the books, I’ve found complete joy just in being with family this holiday season.
Last weekend we did Christmas with M’s family in the mountains – and what a blast we had! In twenty years, we won’t remember the gifts we got, but we will remember the time spent with family – so many cousins, aunts and uncles – these moments are priceless, and we wouldn’t miss it for the world!
This week, we are in Delaware & Pennsylvania visiting my family, and we’re seeing the same thing all over again – complete JOY in just being together. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, best friends, and running into old friends – I can’t get enough!
I believe the phrase is, love actually is all around.
M & I decided a while ago that we wouldn’t do gifts for eachother this year. We have everything that we need, and are thankfully, able to buy ourselves things that we want. We’ve put a lot into our home this year, and even replaced our second car!
We wanted to spend this holiday together and with our friends and family. We wanted to soak up every minute. We wanted to give gifts to our friends and family. We just wanted to enjoy the time, which is limited, that we have with everyone.
I couldn’t have asked for a better Christmas season. We did the things that matter, we’ve taken some much needed time away from work, we’ve loved and felt loved. We are finishing 2015 well, and we’re excited for 2016!
So we didn’t get eachother Christmas presents. The truth is, spending this time with him is the best gift I could ask for. And it’s all I need!
We’ll be home soon – but for now, we’re just enjoying the holiday season the way it was meant to be – with the ones you love. We hope that you are enjoying your Christmas and New Year with the ones YOU love! We’ll see you in 2016!
