floral arrangements & a coastal wedding

Floral Arrangements For A Coastal Wedding | Salt Waetr Blog

One of the biggest surprises when I started my DIY wedding, was that I couldn’t actually handle all of the flowers on my own.

— gasp —  — I needed help! —  — totally DIY was totally too much work —

While I made my own bouquet, my bridesmaids bouquets, and about half of my centerpieces – I needed a

florist to handle the other half of the centerpieces, as well as the decorative pieces I had planned to put all over the venue.

So I googled – and I went to a few of the ‘big box’ florists – and I just wasn’t impressed.

call me high maintenance – all these ‘best of wilmington’ and ‘award winning’ florists – and I wasn’t thrilled.

I felt like my wedding was ‘just another day’ or ‘just another wedding’ and I was

‘just another crazy bride’

so we found a locally owned and operated florist – and holy moly!

Immediately – I felt like I wasn’t ‘just another order’. I felt like I was annalee –

and that the best day of my life was coming up! and I was going to have the

best. flowers. of. my life!

on a routine drive down the island to get to the ferry, I stumbled upon

Beach Blooms – and sweet Julie. I explained what I had in mind, and

let her go from there! My inner control freak had to let go and trust a total stranger

to ‘get me’. I went home and finished my bouquet and some of the centerpieces.

I even made the boys’ boutonnieres (who knows how to spell that word anyway…)

It was like we’d known eachother for years – she TOTALLY got me, and everything was FLAWLESS.

MORE than perfect. I was blown away! I mean, look!

Julie created centerpieces and decor pieces that matched PERFECTLY with what I had already created.

I used silk flowers from Michael’s & A.C.Moore. Everything I used was white / off white / peach.

Marshall spent countless hours cutting the stems off of these so that I could arrange them perfectly!

I actually ended up loving this more than I thought I would! And, my bouquet is one of the most

commonly asked about parts of my wedding! I hear a lot about “the bouquet and the babies breath”

WHICH IS AWESOME because that leads me to Julie & Beach Blooms!
